Details

LITTLE TEW SP3828 11/101 Shepherds Cottage 27/08/56 (Formerly listed as House immediately NW of "Up The Steps") GV II House. Late C17/early C18; ground floor probably earlier. Mixed limestone and marlstone rubble with wooden lintels; concrete plain-tile roof with ashlar and brick stacks. 3-unit plan. 2 storeys plus attic and 2 storeys. 2 bays to left of 3-window front are higher and have renewed 3-light casements and a C20 roof dormer. Lower bay has casements of different sizes. Both sections were raised from single storey at an early date. A canted stone-slated bread-oven projection overlaps the junction and is in line with a double stack on stone bases. Left gable has a further brick stack. Rear of higher range has a large full-height gabled stair tower and an original 3-light leaded casement. Entrance to rear of lower bay. County fire insurance plaque on front wall. Interior not inspected.
