CHIPPING NORTON MARKET PLACE Stone Pillar and base of Wayside Cross

GV II Monument. Late medieval and probably C17 erected outside the Town Hall in 1955. Stone Pillar eight feet in height with a moulded base and moulded capital placed on a weathered stone said to be part of a medieval wayside cross. The pillar is one of nine from the original market hall which was replaced by Repton's building in 1842.
