Details
WOODSTOCK MANOR ROAD SP4417 (East side) Old Woodstock 7/119 The Black Horse Public House 13/02/69 (Formerly listed as The Wheatsheaf Inn) GV II House, now public house. Late C16, refronted and extended in late C18. Coursed limestone rubble; gabled Welsh slate roof; left end stack of stone finished in brick, and brick right end stack. U-plan with rear wings. 2 storeys; 3-window range. Timber lintel over early C19 six-panelled (2 glazed) door with flat stone hood. Chamfered timber lintel over mid C19 sash to left of door; mid C19 canted bay windows in outer bays; keyed flat stone arches over 2 early C19 eight-pane sashes on first floor. Left gable end has blocked late C16 window and hollow-chamfered window; right gable end has early/mid C19 bay window at first-floor level. C18 rear wings of similar materials: wing to left, built as a store, has timber lintel over plank door and brick lateral stack. Interior: chamfered bressumer over open fireplace to left. First floor not inspected but likely to be of interest.
