KINGHAM THE GREEN SP22SE (South-east side) 7/144 Nos.1 and 2, Sideways

GV II

House, now divided. Late C17 with later additions and alterations. Roughly coursed limestone and marlstone rubble; curiously steep-pitched roof, kinked and almost vertical to rear with concrete tiles replacing thatch. 2 storeys and formerly gable-lit attic. Three C19 casements directly below eaves, centre leaded. Ground floor has C19 casement and boarded door under C20 timber lean-to porch to left. Boarded door with lean-to hood to right has casements to either side, right 3-light. All openings have wood lintels; glazed panels to doors. Integral end stacks, left with C20 brown brick shaft and right with C19 red brick shaft. Infilled openings to attic gable ends. C19 lean-to to left gable end. Infilled segmental-headed doorway in wall connecting house to Clements (q.v.). Interior. No.1 (right cottage) only inspected. Chamfered spine beam and joists to right ground-floor room. Wide floor boards to first floor. [2591]
