2. C16 remodelled in early C18. A large grey stone mansion with two projecting wings and two further detached blocks of offices surmounted by domed lanterns from which rise wind-vanes; curved connecting screen walls. The curious 2 storey pilasters of the main block surmounted by stone ball ornaments, are disguised buttresses. The 3rd storey is an addition of C18; low parapet and moulded cornice; slate roof; sash windows; centre pedmented porch; turret stairs in corners of forecourt. Stands on site of demolished priory and forms an imposing layout close to the church. The Hall was formerly part of the Aldenham estate. Country Life, August 15th. 1952.
