HERTINGFORDBURY COLE GREEN TL 21 SE (West side) 5/57 Nos. 18 (The Old Brewhouse) - and 20 (Sharmane) - II
House, now dwellings. Early to mid C17 possibly in 2 builds, extended C19 and C20. Timber frame, stucco incised to resemble ashlar. Tiled roofs. 5 bays. 2 storeys. No. 18 is 3 bay lobby entry to right. Ground floor: stock brick plinth, entrance to right of centre, panelled door with bracketed hood to architrave, 1, 3 and 2 light small pane moulded flush frame casements. No. 20 to left has central entrance, half-glazed door with bracketed hood to architrave, flanking 2 light casements, first floor five 2 light small pane casements. Cross axial ridge stacks behind right entrance and to centre. Left end external stack with offsets. To rear of No. 20 a full height projecting stair wing with ground floor entrance, first floor 2 light casement, flanking lean-to outshuts. To rear of No. 18 is a later 2 storey 1 bay gabled wing with a stack to right, entrance in a lean-to porch. Attached to C20 brick clad right gable end is a lower C20 addition. Interior: exposed framing with jowled posts, curved braces. No. 20 not inspected.
