Details

WEST FELTON C.P. TWYFORD SJ 32 NW 7/86 Twyford House II House. Circa 1830 with minor later alterations. Red brick on sandstone ashlar plinth; slate roof, hipped to right and rear with external end, ridge and valley stacks. 2 storeys with moulded stone eaves cornice and parapet. 3-window front; glazing bar sashes with plain stone wedge lintels (24-paned and extending to plinth to ground floor). Central stone Doric porch with plain moulded entablature over contemporary half-glazed door with panelled reveals. 4 sash windows to right return, 18-paned to ground floor. Interior. Inspection not possible at time of resurvey (May 1986) but noted as having C19 staircase with elegant turned balusters and wreathed handrail. Panelled doors. Shown on 1837 Tithe Map of West Felton but not on an estate map of 1797. Shropshire Record Office 4687/T/1; Longue- ville Coll. 800/[951].
