SJ 2829 NE OSWESTRY C.P. WILLOW STREET (south-west side) 13/123 Boar's Head Inn -

GV II

Inn. Mid-C19 re-fronting and heightening of earlier building with later additions and alterations. Rendered timber frame and brick, slate roof with red brick ridge stack to left and internal end stack to right. Original house probably of 3 reined bays to front with long range at right-angles to rear; front re-faced in C18 and heightened and re-modelled in mid-C19. 3 storeys, corbelled eaves cornice; three 4-paned sashes in moulded surrounds with moulded cill band (actually eaves cornice of C18 house with stone kneelers to left and right) to second floor; twin double-paned sash also in moulded surround to first floor on right; inn front to right has Gothic leaf carving to spandrels of windows and double 4-panel doors with wide rectangular overlight; wide, high passageway with spur stones to left. Long low 2-storey range to rear on right, rendered over timber frame and with slate roof; small gable to left has Venetian window with late C19 stained glass, tall red brick ridge stack to right of centre and large tapering external stack to left. Interior: not inspected but likely to be of interest.
