5/16 The Cottage -
GV II
House. C15 or C16 with mid- to late C19 remodelling and later additions. Timber framed, of cruck construction; partly rebuilt and eaves raised in stuccoed brick (lined as ashlar) with raised quoins and window dressings; plain tile roof. 2 storeys. External brick end stack to left and truncated external brick end stack to right. 3-window front, 2- and 3-light casements; C20 boarded door off-centre to left. Some timber framing visible at rear. Later wing to south-east; painted brick with toothed brick eaves cornice and integral brick end stack. Interior: cruck blade is visible at north- west corner, further remains of cruck framing possibly survive concealed; chamfered beams with ogee stops; C16 or C17 plank and muntin door to right-hand ground-floor front room.
