Shown on O.S. map as Crown Inn.
Farmhouse, latterly inn, now house. Early C17 with later additions
and alterations. Timber framed on brick plinth with painted brick
infill, plain tile roofs. Originally a hall of 2 framed bays with
single-bay cross-wing at right-angles to rear; C19 brick addition
to right of hall range completing present T-plan. One storey and
attic; framing: rectangular panels, 3 from cill to wall-plate with
short straight tension braces, V-struts from collar to left gable
end; C20 latticed and leaded casements, 3 to left and one to right
of contemporary nail-studded door; red brick ridge stack immediately
to right of door formerly to gable end. Salop Fire Insurance plate
numbered 2311 over door and mid-C19 cast-iron pump attached to back
wall. Interior: timber frame exposed, chamfered spine beam with
ogee stops to main ground-floor room; Queen-strut roof in 2 bays to
hall range.
