Farmhouse. Early C17, re-modelled and extended c1700 with further additions
of mid-C19. Earliest part timber-framed with red brick infill, red brick and
uncoursed limestone rubble to later additions, plain tile roofs. Original
house L-shaped with 2-bay range added to front c1700, to the left of this
a mid-C19 addition also of two bays. 0ne storey and attic to original house
with two storeys to remainder; framing: exposed to rear range; wide rectangular
panels, four from cill to wall-plate, jowled wall posts. Front in two
distinct sections; c1700 part to right has two cross-paned sashes below wall
plate and one with segmental head below to right of pedimented stone doorcase
with 6-panel door (top panels now glazed); wide floor band to centre and
external end stack; left-hand section has two glazing-bar sashes with horns
to first floor and one tripartite sash window in centre to ground floor,
all with segmental heads, external end stack. INTERIOR: front room of
original house has chamfered ceiling beams; sitting room of c1700 addition
with rectangular oak panelling incorporating a carved niche to one wall and
an inset corner cupboard to another.
