Details

ELLESMERE RURAL C.P. - SJ 43 SW 9/72 Little Mill - (formerly listed under 15.4.87 Colemere) GV II Cottage. Late C17 with minor later alterations. Timber framed with painted brick infill and plinth; straw thatch roof. 2-cell plan, possibly formerly divided into 2 cottages. One storey and gable-lit attic. Framing: irregular square and rectangular panels, 2 and 3 from cill to wall- plate with short straight brace to front, more regular to rear. Painted brick to gable ends with jowled wall posts, projecting single-purlin, wall- plate and ridge piece ends. C19 casements to left and to right of centre with boarded door to far right. Central axial red brick ridge stack. Interior. Inspection not possible at time of resurvey (February 1987) but right ground-floor room noted as having chamfered spine beam and joists and inglenook fireplace with C19 cast-iron range.
