BRUTON CP QUAPERLAKE STREET (North side) ST6834 8/168 No. 22 (Grove House), with the front boundary railings

Detached house. C18 with C20 modifications. Local stone cut and squared, Doulting stone dressings; plain clay tile roof between coped gables, brick end chimney stacks. 'L'-plan; 2 storeys with attics, 3 bays. 4-pane sash windows to ground floor outer bays with flat voussoired heads; between them a 6-panel door up 2-steps, with stone surround of flat Doric pilasters, entablature and pediment, above three 16-pane sashes, under a deep rendered band course; in roof three early C20 hipped dormer windows. Projection to rear has 16-pane sash windows. Interior not seen. Front wing walls of about 2 metres long and 2 metres high linking to low stone front boundary walls with wrought iron railings set in to height approximately 1.1 metre having barbed and waisted arrowhead finials, with sweeps up to gateway; important to setting of house and street scene.
