Entrance gate piers to Newton House and estate

Four entrance gate piers. Probably C18. Ham stone. Inner piers square, moulded plinths and flush pyramidal caps,
about 0.6 metres square by 2.6 metres high. Outer piers square, moulded base, cornice mould cap surmounted by block
and urn; about 0.5 metres square by 2.75 metres high. Central timber vehicular gate, pedestrian gates to either side.
Part of the setting to Newton House (qv). Owner suggests that the inner piers are later, the outer piers being
relocated from the original entrance which was further South. (May 1983).
