GV II

Corn mill and miller's house, now dwelling. C17 on site of earlier mill, altered C18, enlarged mid C19, refenestrated late C20. Rendered over rubble, hipped slate roof. L-plan, mill right and house left under one roof, addition at rear. 2 storeys, 5 bays; irregularly placed fenestration, C20 metal casements, loft door centre, ground floor 3-light casement left of entrance, stable door right; entrance remains of raised and fielded panel door with inserted lights, C20 porch. Loft door in right return gable end. Interior, partially viewed; it would appear that this was originally two cell and cross passage, the right half being the mill with attached 2 bay shelter shed beyond covering waterwheel, now removed. The walls were raised in the C18, perhaps when the end bay sheltershed was incorporated into the building, now forming a garage. Main interest is the large amount of machinery remaining, hardly altered since milling ceased in the 1940's. This stands on the site of the mill to Cleeve Abbey (qv).
