GV Fair Lawn House ST 7747 NE 10/46 22.7.49 (formerly listed as No 9 (Jehovah's Witness)) II
2. Once the County Court Office. c.1770 with older cottage behind. Ashlar fronting, slight rubble extension to right (No 9, not of special interest). Rusticated plinth, modillion cornice and parapet. End chimneys with moulded capping. 2 storeys, 5 windows, glazing bar sashes in moulded architraves, moulded cills on ground floor, 1st floor cill string. Central architrave door opening with cornice and fluted frieze with paterae. Original panelled door with cross lower panels and cusp headed centre panels. Slate roof to front, tiled to rear with 'L' plan mansarded 2½ storey extension. Mansarded gabled stair turret in angle. Interior: small hall arch, elegant curved stairs with arabesque designs on string and part retaining ramped mahogany dado. On ground floor the right hand room has c.1800 cornice, rose and segment-headed recess, the left hand room has enriched cornice and a fireplace with egg and dart surround and narrowed frieze. On 1st floor in rear extension is an Adam-style fireplace of late C18.
