Gate pier. C18. Dressed stone. Tapering pier, approximately 1.5m high, remains of an iron staple to roadside and the mortise for a staple. On the boundary between the former Frome and Shepton Mallet Turnpike Trusts. (Bryan Morland O., An Introduction to the Infrastructure of the Industrial Revolution in Somerset, 1982).
