KILMERSDON CP ST65SE KILMERSDON VILLAGE 11/177 No. 35 (The Toll House) (previously listed as Cottage No 35 (Old Turnpike House)) 11.3.68 GV II

Turnpike toll house, now dwelling. Early C19. Ashlar road frontage, rubble on returns; slate roof hipped to frontage, to rear with coped verge with cruciform finial. Tudor style. Two storeys, 2-bay road front, blank window openings to first floor under stopped labels. Broad central door opening to ground floor with 4-centred head, emphasised spandrels, stopped label, panelled door; door surround breaks forward slightly under a pedimental gable. Single-light and 2-light stone-mullioned windows to returns, stopped labels. Single storey outshut to left return. Part of Shepton Mallet Turnpike Trust.
