(Marked on O.S. map as The Old Windmill). Tower mill, now dwelling. Probably 1793 for
Thomas, Marquis of Bath, on an earlier site; converted to dwelling 1926 when tower
was heightened and sails and machinery removed; late C20 extension of single storey
to South is not of special interest. Coursed and squared rubble, colourwashed,
parapet with coping, squat brick chimney. Slightly tapering tower, circular on plan.
Four storeys, one and 2-light metal casements to each floor with glazing bars. Door
opening to East, studded plank door. Primarily included because of a very prominent
position in the landscape; some historical importance. (A.J. Coulthard and M. Watts,
Windmills of Somerset and the men who worked them, 1978).
