7/514 East Hill Cottage
GV II
Lodge. Mid C19. Coursed limestone rubble. Low-pitched hipped slate roof with deep eaves and with small gable at centre of front. Axial and rear stacks with grouped diagonally set red brick shafts and square yellow clay pots. Italianate - Tudor style. Plan: L-shaped on plan. The main front range is probably double depth with 2 principal front rooms either side of central entrance hall and with what must be the service wing at the back of the right hand side and a single storey outshut in the angle. Exterior: 2 storeys. Symmetrical 3-bay front with pedimental gable at centre. 2-light stone windows with Tudor arch lights and hoodmoulds. Central Tudor or 4-centred arch doorway with plank door and later gabled open porch on thin posts. Small arrow loop panel in gable. Rear elevation not inspected. Interior: not inspected. Note: East Hill Cottage is a lodge or garden bothy to now demolished East Hill House formerly situated nearby on the hill known as East Hill.
