Rofford Manor and attached wall
II
Farmhouse. Late C17/early C18, extended c.1730-40, Coursed limestone rubble,
ashlar quoins; gabled old tile roof; large brick ridge stack with 4
diagonally-set flues, and brick end stacks, 3-unit plan (possibly with
lobby-entry) extended by addition of side wings to make a T plan. 2 storeys and
attic; 4-bay front, of 2:1:1. 2-window range to left has central C20 door,
timber lintels over C20 door to left and early C19 sash to right: late C19
first-floor casements. Bay to right-has timber lintels over late C19 casements.
Central gabled wing has C18 tripartite sashes in right side wall. 8-pane sashes
to rear. Interior: 6-panelled doors. Chamfered and stopped beams. Winder stairs
adjoin stack. Early C18 stone moulded fireplace in rear room: similar fireplace
and early C18 dado panelling in right room: panelled room of c.1730 in front
wing has fireplace flanked by cupboards and framed by Doric pilasters and
entablature. First floor not inspected but likely to be of interest. Subsidiary
features: U-shaped wall partly enclosing garden to right, of limestone rubble
and English bond brick with C19 iron gate on left side.
