6/27 Church of St Peter

GV II Church, 1860. Red sandstone squared random rubble with limestone dressings, tiled roof. Early English style. Nave with hexagonal apse, North tower. 2-stage tower with hexagonal piered bell-cote, octagonal second stage with flattened broaches fitting into a square first stage with stair turret in North East corner. 3-light East and West windows, other lancets. Interior: rendered. Chancel arch with foliated capitals, scissor truss roof with quatrefoil decorated wall-plate in chancel, trefoil in nave. C19 pews. Imported strip of C17 carving forming top of alter rails.
