8/31 Newley Farmhouse

GV II

Farmhouse. C17. altered mid C19 and mid C20. Roughcast, steeply pitched decorative clav title roof, decorative bargeboard gable ends, brick stacks set in from gable ends and tp left of entrance. Plan: not clear, possibly 3 cell without cross passage. Two storeys and attic, 3 bays, all C20 3 and 4-light casements, first floor window openings with brick surrounds, C20 half-glazed entrance centre right, plank door right in flat roofed single storey mid C19 addition opening onto single storey, 8 bay verandah, decorative clay tile and plastic roofing carried on square wooden columns irregulary placed. Attics lit on gable ends, Interior : ground floor only partially sighted, centre 4-panel steeply chamfered compartment ceiling cut by inserted partition, right chamfered beams with scroll stops. Abutting range of brick farmbuildings to right, late C17 - early C18 in origin, but extensively rebuilt and not included. The impressive expanse of roof at Newley Farmhouse may contain interesting and datable features.
