TQ 74 SE MARDEN BATTLE LANE (west side)

4/22 Reeves Cottage GV II House. Late C16 or early C17, with late C18 or early C19 facade and later alterations. Timber framed, weatherboarded, with plain tile roof. Probably lobby entry plan of approximately 3 timber-framed bays with further bay added to right in C20. 2 relatively low storeys. Half-hipped roof. Multiple brick ridge stack to left end of former central bay and slender projecting stack to left gable end. Irregular fenestration of 5 small paned casements; one three-light to left, one two-light under stack, and one three-light and two two- light to right of stack. Half-glazed former porch on brick base under stack and half-glazed door. Interior: exposed framing. Gunstock and cut jowls to principal posts. Sans-purlin common-rafter roof. Blocked four-light diamond-mullion rear window. Chamfered axial beams to ground floor. Plain painted brick fireplace with bressumer and niches. Broad floorboards.
