EAST SUTTON TQ 825 494 5/65 Lodge at TQ 825 494 II
Lodge to East Sutton Park. Mid C19, probably by C.J. Richardson (J. Newman, West Kent and the Weald, 1980). Red and grey brick with plain tile roof. Built on corner site with compact irregular plan. Broad bay to south-east, short projecting bays to north and south-west, and irregular rear. Sides of south-east bay canted out to abut north and south- west bays about half way along their length. 2 storeys on galletted stone plinth. Deep moulded string course stepped up over ground-floor windows and continued as frieze to porches. Gable to south-east with crow-stepped base, and plain gables to north and south-west, all with moulded brick coping and cut brick finials. Intermediate gables to canted sides. Pyramidal roof to core, with moulded stack of 4 flues rising from centre. South-east bay has 3 stepped leaded first-floor casements with stepped hoodmould over. 3 close- set 2-light casements to ground floor, with top lights. Panelled door with rectangular fanlight, up 3 steps, to each canted side, under open porch with Doric columns and moulded semi-circular head with finial. Interior not inspected.
