(north side) 9/141 The Old School

Former National School, now a house. 1845. Ironstone ashlar and brick with limestone dressings and patterned tile roof. Plinth, coped gables with gabled kneelers, that to north with a cross, single gable and single lateral brick stacks. Single storey, 4 bays. Windows mainly have diamond glazing. West front has to left, a segmental headed stone doorcase with flat hood and 6 panel door, flanked to left by a gabled wing with a 4 light mullioned and transomed casement, and to right by 2 two light mullioned casements with flat hoods. To the right, a projecting gable with a 4 light mullioned and transomed casement, the lower lights with C19 plain glass. Above, a recessed datestone inscribed 'MDCCCXLV'. To right again, a 2 light mullioned casement with flat hood. South end has a central gabled porch with a 4 centred arched doorway with flat hood. Above, a tablet inscribed 'National School'. Rear has a full width single storey lean-to addition with 2 doors.
