MOWSLEY SP 68 NW CHURCH WALK (East Side) 4/69 Cottage to south east of Church and attached wall

GV II

Cottage. C16 or C17, with later alterations. Timber framed with wattle and brick panel infill and some brick panel repair work. Thatched roof now covered with corrugated sheeting. A single cell though possibly once part of a larger building. 1½ storeyed. Formerly 3 bays of timber framing, 3 panels high with continuous posts at angles and interrupted intermediate posts. This arrangement survives on rear elevation but on the north the lower rail is missing and the right-hand bay has been replaced by brickwork. Doorway to right though original door possibly on east gable against the stack. Window in west wall, a 3-light in attic. Length of garden wall is attached to rear: mud on cobble plinth with pantile coving.
