II


Mill House. C18, built in two phases, and extended and re-roofed in C19. Red
brick with dark headers, and Welsh slate gambrel roof. Tall 2-storeys with
attic, and 4 bays. Left-hand bays possibly a slightly later addition: blocked
cambered headed window or doorway to ground floor, 3-light casement above.
Doorway central in right-hand section: to its left a 2-light casement window
cuts through a small section of ironstone walling, while to its right, another
2-light casement is contained within a wider blank archway with cambered head.
4 tall 3-light casement windows above with cambered brick heads. Ironstone
to ground floor in gable wall. Original pitched roof line visible in both
gables: the present gambrel roof is a C19 modification and contains 4 2-light
dormer windows. Sun dial inscribed "redeem the time" at first floor level.
Unmoulded projecting brick eaves cornice in left-hand bay only. Gable and
axial stacks. C19 wing to rear.
