TF 0442 - 0542 SILK WILLOUGHBY GORSE LANE (South Side)

10/82 Barn at Fieldby House


Barn. 1772, with minor C19 alterations. Coursed limestone rubble with ashlar quoins and dressings, red brick, pantiled roof having raised stone coped gables. Single storey 2 bay front with central planked stable door with to left a fixed C19 2 light iron louvered window, both openings have segmental brick heads. To right a small triangular breather. To the left a pent roofed extension with stone base and red brick raising. Matching window and smaller stable door. In the left hand gable a datestone of 1772. In the right hand gable a further breather and a 2 light opening with brick surround. In the rear are 2 breathers, an opening blocked in red brick and a dated quoin stone. Interior retains softwood clasped purlin roof.
