Farm buildings at
Barrow Hill Farm

G.V. II

Farm buildings. Mid C19, some C20 alterations. Built for the Whichcote
family of Aswarby Park. Coursed squared limestone rubble facing with ashlar
quoins and dressings, red brick in English bond to rear. Asbestos sheet
roofs with raised stone coped gables and moulded kneelers. Rectangular plan
of 4 crew yards with surrounding ranges, pigeoncote and barn. The park
front has 2 single storey ranges linked by a 2 storey pigeoncote. In the
left hand range are 3 planked doors with timber lintels. Beyond to either
side are single openings and flanking gables. The pigeoncote contains a 2
light chamfered cross mullioned window with moulded cornice and on the roof
is a timber flight tower with pyramidal roof. The end gables contain blank
openings with plain ashlar lintels. This was the home farm of the Aswarby
estate.
