EWERBY AND EVEDON HAVERHOLME PARK TF 14 NW 3/25 Stable yard and coach house to Haverholme Priory G.V. II
Stable yard and coach house to Haverholme Priory. 1839, by H. E. Kendall, altered C20. Yellow and some red Ewerby brick, partially faced with limestone ashlar, slate roofs, raised stone coped gables with kneelers and 4 pairs of diamond set square yellow brick shafts with moulded ashlar tops. Open sided courtyard plan. Principal front has a wide entrance with flanking side walls with facetted ashlar copings and one remaining square gate pier with a pyramidal top. To either side are 2 storey gables with moulded plinths. The left hand wall has a blank shield shaped panel with a 2 light window to the first floor. To the right hand side is a 3 light mullioned and transomed window and a 2 light window to the first floor. All windows have chamfered surrounds with moulded heads and label stops. In both gables are rectangular panels bearing the date 1839. The sides of the ranges have single storey plus attics 7 bay fronts with corbelled out eaves courses. Single half glazed planked doors with to left a single and to right 3 two light cast iron latticed mullioned and transomed casement windows, all these openings have chamfered segmental heads. to right are broad Tudor arched blank panels containing 6 panelled doors with plain fanlight and a fixed 4 light window. In the roof are 2 through eaves gabled dormers with ashlar kneelers, brackets and copings with diamond set finials, each contains a single cast iron lattice casement set in a chamfered surround. Beyond is a taller gable containing a matching window with above a blank ashlar shield. The other side matches, but there is a larger open Tudor archway. The far wall of the courtyard is now covered by a C20 lean to, but retains a central double chamfered Tudor arched entrance opening which is flanked by pairs of similar smaller araches to the carriage bays with 9 panelled doors to the left only. The external sides have small glazing bar sashes with plain lintels, some single and 2 light mullioned windows with ashlar surrounds, central gabled 2 through eaves dormers matching those to the inner sides. The entrance front is of brick and has a central broad slightly advanced Tudor arched ashlar gateway, double chamfered with hood mould with a 2 light casement to the gable over. To either end are single gables with pairs of 2 light latticed casements on the ground floor and single similar windows to the first floor.
