Fore Lane Farmhouse and stable (north of Gauntlet House)

Farmhouse and attached store and rebuilt stable. Late C18. Red brick in English
garden wall bond of 5. Pantile roof, 3 gable brick stacks. L-plan survives
intact the single storey store is attached to the side. Single storey with
attic, 3 bay front with central planked door, flanked by one single sliding
sash and one 2-light casement. All with segmental heads. Dog-tooth eaves cornice
beneath which is tucked a small 2 light sash. To rear is 2 bay service range.
To the left a lower service and stable range rebuilt in brick with pantiled
roof (1989). INTERIOR: Some original panelled and framed doors, and a ledge
door with strap hinges. Original brick partitions between ground floor rooms.
Victorian grates and fire surrounds, one concealing the original fireplace with
wooden bressummer. Roof rebuilt.
