26.1.67 Double Roofed House)

Farmhouse. Late C17, altered 1723 with minor C20 alterations.
Red/brown brick in Flemish bond, plain concrete tiled steeply
pitched roof with fine brick coped tumbled gables and 4 gable
stacks. Parallel ranges plan. 2 storey plus garret, 5 bay front
with first floor band and wooden dentillated eaves. Central 6
panelled door with blank traceried fanlight, panelled reveals,
moulded eared surround, fretted frieze, leaded hood, flanked by
pairs of plain sashes. To first floor 5 similar windows, all
with painted flat brick arched heads. On the right hand side a
lead rainwater hopper inscribed "RTE 1723". This dates the re-
roofing and refenestration of the house. In the left hand gable
is a blocked garret light of C17 form. Interior has C20 stair-
case reusing C18 turned balusters. Chamfered beam with ogee
stop. Dado panelling to both front rooms and shutters. Clasped
purlin pegged roof.
