13/194 Mechanics Cottage and adjacent cottage (opposite Old Stables)

Originally 3 cottages, now 2. C16, early C17, altered C19, C20. Lower left hand cottage had timber frame now cased in coursed limestone rubble. Pantile roof with 2 brick gable stacks. Single storey plus attics, 3 bay front having central planked door with C20 wooden porch flanked by single C20 3 light casements. To first floor a single similar 2 light window. In the roof are 2 gabled dormers having 2 light windows and leaded cheeks. To the left a lower 3 bay unit belongs to the C16 phase and contains planked door, 2 light casement and fixed light. All openings have timber lintels. To left hand gable the wall plate and centre post of timber frame can be seen behind C20 imitation framing. Interior of C17 cottage has chamfered beams with ogee and shield shaped stops.
