Details

1. 1671 ST PAUL'S STREET (South Side) Brazenose School House (Part of Stamford School) TF 0307 1/307 22.5.54. II* GV 2. Early C18. 2 storeys and attics in ashlar, Small plinth with moulded capping. Heavy stone modillion cornice. 5 large hipped dormers, double-hung sashes with glazing bars. Moulded stone band between storeys has a small cornice superimposed over central door. 6 windows which, like doors, have moulded stone frames with triple fluted keystones. 2 6-panel doors inset in panelled reveals, with rectangular fanlight with heavy tracery. South elevation at back, has a garden frontage including a chamfered bay through both storeys, with "Gothic" glazing bars to the hung sash windows. Interior has good contemporary staircase.

Brazenose College Gate and retaining walls, 2 barns to the east of No 28, Brazenose School House, and Nos 30 to 33 (consec) form a group.
