35/1390 Lodge to Bishop Eton Monastery, and adjoining gateway 14.3.75. G.V. II*

Lodge and gateway, c.1840s. Augustus Welby Northmore Pugin. Stone with slate roof, hexagonal slates. One storey, T-plan. Gable to road has 3-light window with lattice glazing (lower parts boarded, 1984). Round above, with quatrefoil over. Niche with bowl in wall to right. Left return has 3-light window and segmental-head and gabled roof dormer. Rear has gable with end stack to right, 2-light window to left. Gateway has segmental-pointed archway with flanking weathered and gabled buttresses. Niche above with statue of Bishop Eton and flanking mitred shields inscribed "B" and "S". Pointed arch with studded door to right. Weathered coping, raised above niche, with cross.
