BLANKNEY MAIN STREET TF 0660 (west side) 7/16 Stonehaven and attached Cottage
GV II
Pair of cottages. c1835 by W A Nicholson. Coursed limestone rubble and ashlar dressings. Slate roof with ashlar coped gables with moulded kneelers and finials. Chamfered white brick and ashlar plinth, flush ashlar quoins. A pair and a row of 6 square Tudor style white brick and ashlar stacks. Single storey plus attic. Recessed centre, has a 4 centred arched ashlar doorlway with 4 panel door and a 2-light window to the right. Projecting to the left is a single storey gabled wing with a 3-light window under a dripmould. Projecting to the right is a gabled cross wing with a 3-light window below and a 2-light window above, both under dripmoulds. The centre is covered by a wooden verandah, supported on posts with carved brackets, and above a single 2-light ashlar gabled dormer with ball finials. All the windows are glazing bar casements in recessed and chamfered mullion ashlar surrounds. This building is part of the complete estate village erected by the Chaplin family of Blankney Hall.
