2. Dated 1878 by E M Barry (Pevsner). Exuberant Portland stone building in modified, C16 French chateau style. 2 blocks joined over archway at south end of Middle Temple Lane. Battered basement, and, 4 main storeys plus 2 in steep slated roof with cresting. Rounded corner towers; tall bay windows; balconies; rich figure sculpture and carving. Elaborated centre-piece and stone dormers etc.
