Headstone & grave slab. c1898, designer unknown. Marble and pink granite. Headstone with round-arched head, shaped at angles and with a pink granite colonette set into each side; carved chaplet above inscription. Rectangular grave slab with hipped pink granite top. Bessemer was an engineer and prolific inventor, being most famous for his process for converting pig iron into steel which revolutionised the industry and was used throughout the world. ------------------------------------
