Details

OLD FORD ROAD E2 1. 4431 (South Side) No 5 (Netteswell House) TQ 3582 10/193 II GV 2. Late C17 with early C18 and later alterations. Brick with stone bands at 1st and 2nd floor levels. Entrance, or south front, has 2 shaped gables at 2nd floor terminating in pediments, all with heavy moulded stone coping. Tiled roof. 3 storeys, 4 windows to ground and 1st floor. 2 windows to 2nd floor in gables. Recessed sashes with red brick dressings and flat arches. Above entrance door (which now leads to garden) is stone tablet with inscription "Netteswell House - AD1553 - Remodelled 1705 and 1862". On east side, 1 window and 2 blank panels to ground and 1st floor with plaster coved eaves. The present entrance is from Old Ford Road and the house overlooks the grounds of Bethnal Green Museum (RCHM).

The Terrace, No 5 (Netteswell House) and Nos 15 to 21 (odd) form a group with the Church and Priory of Our Lady of the Assumption, Victoria Park Square.
