Details

GARRATT LANE SW18 1. 5033 Earlsfield House TQ 27SE 4/13 II 2. 1902 by Lansdell and Harrison as workhouse for Wandsworth and Clapham Union. Symmetrical. Late 17th Century style. Red brick ground floor; yellow stocks with red brick and stone dressings above. Main elevation to Swaffield Road comprising 3 storey, 5 window hipped-roof centre pavilion with recessed single-window links to 4-storey cross wings one window wide to street. Centre pavilion entrance bay with door and wing lights recessed into round-arched porch between rusticated piers: first and second floor tripartite windows between Ionic giant pilasters which support pedimented gable. Modillion eaves cornice. Ribbed stacks with oversailing courses. Cross-wings: ground floor canted bow; first and second floor tripartite windows between Ionic giant pilasters supporting entablature with segmental pediment; modillion eaves cornice, hipped roof, stacks with oversailing courses.
