GV II*
Church. 1902. By W D Caröe. Red brick, stone dressings. Low pitched slate roof to parapet. Aisled 6-bay nave, clerestory; lower aisled 3-bay chancel; north-west and south-west porches. Narrow square north-west tower with splayed corners, segmental openings, buttresses and crenellated parapet; narrow shingle spire. Arts and Crafts Perpendicular manner. Segmental entrance in gabled south porch. Brick and stone interior. Stone clustered piers with crenellated capitals. Openwork brick band above; 3-light clerestory windows. Low roof in Tudor manner, rising from stone wall shafts. Pointed chancel arch on carved corbels. 7-light east window with stained glass by Clayton and Bell. Furniture by Caröe, including lectern, pulpit, Purbeck marble traceried font, etc. Lettering to foundation stone at east end understood to be a very early work by Eric Gill.
