11/247 Wintle monument in churchyard, about 4m south of tower, Church of St. Peter and St. Paul
GV II
Chest tomb; first half C18; stone. Flat lid, hollow chamfer. North face, centre flanked by narrow panels: centre, head, originally with wings, drapery to corners, whence it hangs down to frame panel. Flanking panels carving, including flowers and fruit. Ends lyre shaped, with leaf carving on narrow faces: west end plain, east scrolls, with serpent of eternity in centre. Weathering. Main inscription, partly lost; children who died in 1720's noted on west end. One of close group of 5 listed Wintle monuments (q.v.).
