2.
Surviving sections of the boundary walls formerly enclosing the London Dock of 1801-5, by Daniel Alexander (surveyor) and John Rennie (engineer). The walls incorporate warehouse walls at intervals. Built of stock brick, with some patching, many sections of the walls have been reduced in height, and a number of modern openings have been created. Two pairs of gate piers survive at the south end of the Hermitage Basin; these have white stone caps and plinths, heavily vermiculated. A similar pair of gate piers stands at the north-east end of Pier Head, at the former entrance to Wapping Basin.

The listed buildings and walls etc of The London Docks form a group.
