TQ 2980 SW CITY OF WESTMINSTER PALL MALL SW1 81/55 (South side) 5.2.70 Nos 77 and 78 GV II Originally a single town house. 1862-63 by T. H. Wyatt. Yellow brick and stone dressings, slate roof. Opulent eclectic exercise in Italianate and French 2nd Empire styles. 3 storeys, basement and steep, dormered mansard. 4 windows wide. Projecting porch wing to right with wide stone portico and elaborate bay window with curved glazing to its sides rising through 2 storeys; above a large, pedimented dormer breaks the balustrade with an ogee, slated dome over it. Architrave surround windows to left on ground floor. The 1st and 2nd floor windows run together vertically with decorated panels. Prominent cornice and balustraded parapet. No 77, the entrance wing, is now united with the Club, No 71 to 76; whilst the remainder,No 78, forms part of No 79. Survey of London; vol XXIX
