Details
WESTWELL SP21SW Freeland House and 1/310 attached wall and arch 12.9.55 to west. (formerly listed as Freelands and Barn at entrance) GV II
House. Early C18, remodelled early and mid C19. Rubble with Cotswold stone roof, ashlar end chimneys. 2 and 3 storeys. 3 bays, outer mid C19 angled bays with glazing-bar sash windows, although matching in appearance the left-hand one is 3 storeys and the right-hand one 2storeys. Central 6-panel door with 'Y' tracery fanlight and open pediment on stone Tuscan piers, plain window over. Gabled extension of 2 storeys and attic to rear with part of a mullioned window and drip; further extension of one storey and attic to north. Low garden wall meets this elevation at right angles, with bridging arch over dry ditch to west; the wall has steps approaching it from east and extends about 10m towards the south.
