KINGS CLIFFE WEST STREET TL0097 (South side) 12/164 The Manor House and attached 23/05/67 walls to south (Formerly listed as The Manor House) GV II Manor house and attached walls. Early and mid/late C17 and early C19. Squared coursed limestone, main range has ashlar banded facade. Collyweston slate and concrete tile roofs. Mid/late C17 main range, originally 3-unit plan. 2 storeys. 3-window range. Two, 2-storey slightly canted bay windows with ovolo moulded mullions and transoms and slated roofs. One 2-light, ovolo moulded stone mullion window, with transom; to first floor far left. Central 6-panel door with moulded stone square-head surround. Ashlar gable parapets and ashlar ridge and end stacks, each with moulded cornice and pulvinated frieze. Early C17 two-window range, attached to right, has leaded casements under wood lintels. Ashlar gable parapets and concrete tile roof. Large stone stack at end. Front of main range many have had gables. Garden front, to rear, has 6-paned sash windows under gauged stone heads. Central part-glazed door under similar head. Small gabled wing breaks forward, to left, with canted bay window in gable end. C18 and early C19 walls attached to left and right of garden front, have ashlar copings and partially enclose the upper lawn. Wall attached to left continues to south to enclose the lower garden. Interior: entrance hall has early C19 staircase with stick balustrade. 6 panelled doors with early C19 surrounds. Room to far right of entrance has remains of open fireplace. Room to far left of entrance has C17 corner fireplace with moulded stone surround. Cellar has a 2-light stone mullion window.
