Details
TQ 2881 SE CITY OF WESTMINSTER WELBECK STREET W1 56/7 (east side) No 11 GV II Terrace house on corner site. 1905 by F M Elgood. Red brick with stone dressings, slate roof. Free style of Queen Anne and Flemish derivation. Five tall storeys and basement. Two windows wide. Ground and first floors ashlar faced. Doorway to left by corner with open scrolled pediment on consoles. Two storey canted bay with sash lights in moulded surrounds, the central sash on both floors with segmental label mould surmounted by festoons; similar label mould over window above doorway. Revealed camber headed sashes to second and third brick faced floors which have flush brick and stone quoin piers; small swagged oculus set in open-cranked modillioned gable. Stone facing returns for one bay to flank, the remainder of wall plain brick with functional free distribution of fenestration and slated attic. Original Arts and Crafts cast iron area railings.
