Terrace of town houses c.1800 Portman Estate development. Stock brick, Nos. 20 to 24 and 26 and 27 with channelled stucco ground floor; concealed slate roofs. 4 storeys and basements, Nos. 21 to 23 and 27 of 5 storeys. 3-window wide fronts apart from the double fronts of Nos. 19 and 27 with 5 and 4 windows respectively. Semicircular arched doorways, set to left in 3-window fronts; panelled doors in panelled jambs and with fluted heads; Nos. 20 to 26 with side lights; Nos. 20, 22 and 25 retaining radial patterned fanlights; No. 20 with elaborate cast iron porch. Recessed sashes, Nos. 20 and 23 retaining glazing bars, under flat gauged arches; No. 21 has mid C19 canted bay to ground floor; the left hand ground floor corner frontage of No. 27 has been altered. Stucco plat band over ground floor and on No. 27 over 2nd floor; stucco string over 3rd floor of Nos. 21 to 23. Crowning stucco cornices and blocking courses, except for plain parapet copings of Nos. 24 and 26. Wrought iron balconettes to 1st floor windows of Nos. 19, 26 and 27; the rest with continuous, geometric patterned, cast iron balconies. Cast iron area railings with urn finials. No.20 has G.L.C. plaque recording residence of Elizabeth Garrett Anderson.
