In the entry for; 72/136 TRAFALGAR SQUARE, WC2 Churchyard walls and railings to Church of St Martin-in-The- Fields The address and description shall be amended to read; TRAFALGAR SQUARE, WC2 Churchyard walls and railings surrounding Church of St Martin- in-the-Fields on North, South, East and West sides Churchyard railings. Railings between columns of portico of c1726; the other churchyard railings are exact copies of c1830, by the London ironfounders Cottam and Hallen and cast to the pattern already used for the railings of c1726. Fine iron railings set on Portland stone wall with segmental coping. Closely- spaced "turned baluster" pattern with cross rails and cone and ball finials. The railings of c1726 are shown in an engraving by R West of 1738; the railings of c1830 were erected to surround the new churchyard created by Nash's West Strand Improvements which included the construction of Duncannon Street to the south.
